Maggie Danielsen - Tap Dance Instructor

Smiling elderly woman in a striped shirt stands in a spacious dance studio.

Maggie Danielsen put her first pair of tap shoes on at 12 years old, and she knew she had found her passion in life. Along with her twin sister Mary, she met Danny Daniels, and as the saying goes, “the rest is history.” She learned her craft exclusively from Danny, which greatly influenced her tap dancing career. Thanks to Danny Daniels, she has pursued a wonderful career in tap dancing. She had a starring dancing role with Danny Daniels in The John Denver Variety special for NBC in the 1970s and went on to dance with him in a television show for HBO called “Opening Night.” As a charter member of the Danny Daniels Dance America Company, she toured with The Columbia Artist Tour production of “Dance America.” From there, she appeared in the MGM movie “Pennies from Heaven.” As a respected dance instructor, she has taught celebrities such as Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez, Gallagher, Holly from the 'Girls Next Door,' Julie Kavner, and Andy Dick, just to name a few. Her choreography journey began with competitions, where she was named Top Choreographer for LA Dance Force and Dance Masters of Southern California five times each. She feels the most accomplished when she receives this recognition and was honored twice as one of LA’s Top Choreographers in the Los Angeles Dance Invitational. Most recently, she choreographed and starred in a JC Penny's industrial at the Kodak Theatre. Maggie returned to New York to be a master teacher at “Tradition in Tap” with Avi Miller and Been Ofer, celebrating the works of Danny Daniels. Currently, Maggie Danielsen serves as the President for Dance Masters of Southern California Chapter 1.
